Favorite authors/books

Postby Bri » Mon Oct 25, 2010 3:44 pm

While I've been categorizing my books, I taken some time to marvel at the fact that I seem to collect certain authors more than any others. In no particular order, here are the ones that are most prolific:

Piers Anthony (I adore his Xanth series and own every single one except the most recent; I need to check and see if it's in my local bookstore)
Carolyn Keene/Franklin Dixon (I put these together because it was a group of ghostwriters that wrote both the original Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys series under those pseudonyms)
J.K. Rowling (Harry Potter, naturally!)
Laurell K. Hamilton (specifically her Meredith Gentry series)
Charlaine Harris (I'm a True Blood fan)
Anne McCaffrey (comprised of two series; the Pern series and the Acorna series)
Christopher Stasheff (his A Wizard in Rhyme series is excellent)
Christine Feehan (wonderful wonderful paranormal and gothic romance author; she writes the Carpathian, Leopard, and Drake Sisters series, and a newer series that's sort of a spin-off of the Drake Sisters one, as well as several one-offs)
Johanna Lindsey (more conventional romance author, but I still love and have loved many of her books)
Lora Leigh (she writes a series on genetically engineered humans that have predator (i.e. lion, cougar, jackal, wolf, coyote, etc) DNA combined with their own to create a species known as Breeds; each of them has a mate, and the sex is FANTASTIC)
Eoin Colfer (Artemis Fowl series, plus a couple of one-offs)
Sandra Hill (mostly writes about Viking romance, but she had a Cajun series that's droolworthy as well as being hysterically funny too)
Jean Johnson (she wrote a series about eight brothers who were all magic users that were exiled to a small island near their homeland because they were the subjects of a prophecy that was feared to bring about the ruin of their land if any of them got married; turns out much better for them of course, and like always the prophecy gets misinterpreted all to hell and back; fun series)
Sherrilyn Kenyon (Dark Hunter series; highly recommend it)
Katie MacAlister (I absolutely love her blend of humor and romance; check her out!)
Nalini Singh (writes a series about Changelings)

There are many others of course, but those are probably the majority of my absolute favorites. I also love that I own the entire collection of William Shakespeare, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes collection, and Edgar Allen Poe's collected works. What sorts of books are your favorites, and who are your fave authors?

He is, I liked Starship Troopers a lot more then the movie.
Oh also: Harry Harrison - The Stainless Steelrat

Some guy on Youtube read a little bit of it, its not official though it sounds absolutely great and professional... I wish he would do the full thing as that is basically how I always imagined the voice.
