My ambitious project

Postby Bri » Sat Aug 25, 2012 6:22 pm

So I had an idea that I'm going to try to implement. As you may recall, I own or will own every single episode of MST3K that has been released on DVD, and believe me, that's a LOT of episodes, since they're up to volume 25 on the box sets and have released several as standalone DVDs as well. I believe I own approximately 110 episodes as a result, and have decided that I will watch every single one by the end of next week. (I have time, you see, since I'm jobless at the moment)

I've made a good start thus far, having watched The Wild World of Batwoman while on vacation, and following up yesterday and today with Manos: The Hands of Fate, Santa Claus Conquers the Martians, I Accuse My Parents, The Beginning of the End, and The Brain That Wouldn't Die. With each subsequent episode I find myself wondering more and more WHY they canceled this show, and have come to the unfortunate conclusion that network executives are (shocker) stupid. I'll keep you posted if you're interested on my progress!

Good lord >.< well, I wish you the best of luck. About how many 'episodes' a day are you looking at tackling?

Whatever I can get done.

Correction to my previous post, by the way; I own 105 episodes, and they're up to volume 24, not 25.

I have 71 episodes to go before I own them all. I really wish Shout Factory would get a move on!

Hasn't been that bad, thus far; I've gotten quite a few done, especially today, as I'm suffering from a touch of vertigo and find sitting or standing upright makes me rather dizzy; I've been curling up in my chair and watched several episodes already. I'm finding it interesting to know just how many bad movies have really gotten a green light from Hollywood.

More then you can fathom.

They did "Hercules vs the Martians" right? that was the one where they got up and left in the middle of it for a while cause they ran out of ways to lament it, iirc >.>

Hercules, Hercules Unchained, and Hercules VS The Moon Men are the only Hercules movies MST3K has done that I'm aware of.

I'm sorta looking forward to the Gamera ones; they managed to get only two Godzilla movies, so the Japanese monster movie quota is fulfilled by the giant flying turtle instead.

Maybe I'm confusing Martians and Moon Men >.>

And yay, flying turtle! you have to admit, that seems more appropriate for them then Godzilla, even if Godzilla is a pretty damn ripe target to poke fun at

It's possible you were; that was my guess at any rate. *L*

I've watched one Gamera episode from some time ago, but don't really remember it all that well. It'll be nice to refresh my memory.

If you get through this entire series, you deserve like a super award or something. There is SO much

Yeah well, it'll be some time before that happens.

I've gotten through all my standalone DVDs and the first two volumes of episodes (I'm not counting the discs that contain all the shorts that were sometimes shown in front of the movies themselves, so that's only seven discs in the first two volumes, plus the 12 standalone DVDs, putting me at 19 out of 105 episodes owned (not including the 71 I don't own, at least until Shout Factory gets a move on and releases them, which they seem to be doing at a rate of four about every four to six months at least) that I've watched). I'm thinking it'll probably take me into next week at the rate I'm going.

In to volume 4! I think it'll go a little faster if I start watching them in the mornings; I've been confining it to the evenings for some reason, but I could knock out six or so if I start in the morning.

Got sidetracked. *sheepish look* I'm re-watching Numb3rs right now, actually; will get back into the MST3K once that obsession is played out.
